- The government will step up fertiliser imports this year to meet rising agricultural demand and ensure adequate supplies for farmers, Mohammed Amin Ur Rashid, minister for agriculture and fisheries and livestock, said today.
- The minister gave the assurance at a views-exchange meeting with stakeholders on fertiliser, seeds, irrigation, fisheries and livestock management at the divisional commissioner’s office in Rajshahi.
- “There is no fertiliser crisis in the country, nor is there any fear of one in the future,” he said, adding that current stocks were 35 percent higher than at the same time last year.
